UPDATE: This article has been updated with the full HD spoilers now officially released by MTG for Duskmourn. The rest of this article remains in its original state, so you can see how close the predictions were to reality.
Earlier today, the face Commander cards for Magic: The Gathering’s upcoming Duskmourn set were revealed online and later removed. These images were officially released on MTG’s official product page for Duskmoun: House of Horror.
MTG did not intend to spoil these face Commander cards just yet, and the images revealed on their product page were just a tiny thumbnail of the product packaging to encourage preorders, but it was enough to spoil some of what the cards do.
Here’s what was revealed, blurriness and all:
This might look like nothing, but it didn’t take long for the MTG community to start figuring out what these cards say thanks to keen eyesight, a little bit of image enhancing, and identifying typical mechanic wording.
MTG YouTuber Tauna MTG created a video shortly after the product thumbnail was released and did a breakdown of what these cards actually do. Here’s what he was able to figure out.
Duskmourn: Miracle Worker Face Commander – Animatou Veil Protector
Surprisingly, much of Aminatou was able to be deciphered. It appears to have the surveil ability on upkeep and gives every enchantment card in your hand miracle alongside a cost reduction on the miracle cost. Not bad for a 4 mana planeswalker and right on theme for a miracle based Esper Commander deck.

Duskmourn: Endless Punishment Face Commander – Valgavoth, Harvestor of Souls
Fortunately for spoiler season, and unfortunately for those wanting immediate spoilers, there isn’t much to be revealed for Valgavoth, Harvester of Souls (the spelling is incorrect in Tauna’s video, as its name was previously revealed officially). It’s an Elder Demon, which is pretty sweet, and the ruler of Duskmourn.
The mana cost is notably steep here, and MTG historically wants new players to be able to play their face Commanders. I suspect there could be a mana reduction clause from something like life loss or damage dealt in a turn, in typical Rakdos fashion.

Duskmourn: Jump Scare! Face Commander – Zimone, Spectre Unraveler
We also didn’t get to see much from Zimone, Spectre Unraveler. It’s mana cost is pretty low at three for simic, which is in good company alongside Nadu, Winged Wisdom, Oko, Thief of Crowns, and Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath.
This human wizard has a landfall trigger with an unknown effect. It wouldn’t surprise me if the landfall triggers synergizes with +1 counters, being simic and all, and seeing as drawing cards is a bit too good at this mana cost. But who knows? MTG has a history of pushing three mana Simic cards to the limit!

Duskmourn: Death Toll Face Commander – Winter, Cynical Opportunist
Finally, we have Winter, Cynical Opportunist, which is 100% fully spoiled. This Commander mills yourself for 4 on attack trigger and reanimates a permanent from your graveyard given the conditions listed above.

Those are all the face Commanders from the Duskmourn set. You can watch Tauna MTG’s full breakdown of these cards below:
Since the images were originally released, MTG has deleted the thumbnails so they no longer exist on the official product page here.
