Over the weekend, an image showing four promotional Marvel x Magic: The Gathering cards has been circulating online. This image appears to show legitimate cards from the franchise crossover.

The cards are marked SLD in the bottom left, meaning they are supposedly from a Secret Lair Drop. It features Black Panther, Iron Man, Wolverine, and Captain America. Take a look below:

The image of these MTG cards first appeared online in a for-sale post on Facebook Marketplace, alongside other Secret Lair Drops. While these could be fake cards, many players are speculating that they are real, and potentially meant to be given away at the NYCC event scheduled for October.

The artwork for the Marvel Secret Lair Drop appears to be original, and not AI-generated. If we zoom in to the artist’s box, credits go to Tyler Jacobson for Black Panther, Justyna Dura for Iron Man, Victor Adame Minguez for Wolverine, and Ryan Pancoast for Captain America.

All of these artists have been commissioned for artwork for Magic: The Gathering in the past.

Are these legitimate Secret Lair Drop cards meant to be given away at NYCC? Or is it all a prank pulled on the FB Marketplace? Perhaps we will find out on October 18, when Marvel gives the first official sneak peek of the crossover.

Stay tuned to MTG Insider for more breaking news and coverage on the Marvel x MTG crossover set!
