UPDATED: This list has been updated with the best Eldrazi Commanders as of June 2024
Now is the perfect time to build an Eldrazi Commander deck, with MH3 offering substantial support for colorless and Eldrazi-based strategies.
The MH3 main set not only features an Eldrazi theme, but there’s also a Commander precon that has been spiking in value. These new cards bring a level of playability to colorless decks we haven’t seen before.
Some of the powerful new cards for the 99 include Echoes of Eternity and Kozilek’s Unsealing. The set is so juiced that half of our list is composed of new legendary Eldrazi from the MH3 set and its precons.

One of the biggest choices to consider when deciding your Eldrazi Commander is what color identities you want access to. Cards with devoid have no color for the purpose of gameplay, but their color identity is still tied to their mana pips for Commander as stated in the comprehensive rules.
903.4. The Commander variant uses color identity to determine what cards can be in a deck with a certain commander. The color identity of a card is the color or colors of any mana symbols in that card’s mana cost or rules text, plus any colors defined by its characteristic-defining abilities (see rule 604.3) or color indicator (see rule 204).
MTG Comprehensive rules
Unfortunately for Eldrazi players, devoid only changes the color of the spell, but not its color identity. Weird, I know. This means your Commander choice will dictate whether you have access to devoid cards or not.
With all of these factors considered, we’ve compiled an updated list of the 10 Best Eldrazi Commanders in MTG:
#1 Ulalek, Fused Atrocity

Ulalek is the new MH3 face Commander and goes straight to #1 on our list. Thanks to its color pips, this is one of the few Eldrazi Commanders that gives you access to every color identity for support cards. Before MH3, Morophon, the Boundless was one of the few other options to do this.
The ability on Ulalek is massive. Not only does it double up on Eldrazi triggers, it will create a token of every Eldrazi creature you cast for the low price of two colorless mana.
#2 Azlask, the Swelling Scourge

Azlask is the other gem from the Eldrazi MH3 Commander precons. Thanks to the mana pips in its ability, it also enables all 5 colors in your deck.
This Eldrazi Commander is going to focus on an Eldrazi deck that generates Scions and Spawns. Once you have a healthy army of them, the Annihilator trigger will be absolutely brutal for opponents you choose to attack.
#3 Herigast, Erupting Nullkite

Hell yea! Herigast is both an Eldrazi and a Dragon, and you can run red cards in its Commander deck thanks to the red pips in its ability. Do you want to emerge giant Eldrazi and Dragons from your cards cast earlier in the game? If so, this is the Commander for you.
There’s plenty of ways to get both tempo and card advantage here, such as emerging a Herigast from a Solemn Simulacrum in the early turns of the game.
Oh, and drawing 3 cards from its cast trigger is the gravy on top, guaranteeing you’ve got more Eldrazi and Dragons on the way. MH3 sure has some powerful Eldrazi cards!
#4 Zhulodok, Void Gorger

A lot of your deck is going to be mana rocks and big-butt Eldrazi. Card advantage is a huge problem, and Zhulodok helps narrow that gap. Zhulodok only costs 6 mana and will go down at least a turn before your big Eldrazi.
Getting three spells for the price of one is both huge mana value and huge card advantage. For those reasons, Zhulodok takes our #1 spot for colorless Eldrazi Commanders.
#5 Liberator, Urza’s Battlethopter

What if every card in your deck had flash? That’s what Liberator, Urza’s Batthlethopter enables. This makes it difficult for your opponents to play around you. Nobody wants to attack into a deck that can flash out an instant-speed Eldrazi.
The greatest satisfaction with Liberator is when you wait until the last end step before your turn to flash out an Eldrazi with annihilator to KO an opponent.
#6 Emrakul, the Promised End

Emrakul has one of the most powerful abilities in all of Magic. You can take over a player’s turn in Commander, and the ability happens on cast! There’s no telling what kind of damage you can do.
In general, you’ll be able to wreck at least two players when you get the extra turn. First, you can deplete the good cards in their hand. Second, you can use them to weaken the opponent of your choice. You can also attack with their creatures recklessly wherever is best.
Yes, the mana cost is high, but it isn’t unreasonable to get it down to 8 mana or so. With protection from instants, it’s also pretty hard for players to deal with.
#7 Jodah, Archmage Eternal

Who needs ramp when you can play your 12 mana Eldrazi for only 5 mana! Jonah expedites your ability to play all those big Eldrazi without needing so many mana rocks.
Thanks to Jodah having every mana pip in its abilities, you can also run every color of spell in your Commander deck.
#8 Kozilek, the Great Distortion

Kozilek is everything you want in a massive Eldrazi Commander. For starters, it can draw us seven cards on cast, which means even if it is countered, you still get the card draw. This guarantees you will have plenty of follow-up in the late game.
Kozilek’s other main ability is countering spells. It works well with its first ability, since our hand will be reset to seven. That gives you some strong odds that you will be able to counter any spells that might target Kozilek or be a significant threat.
#9 Kozilek, the Broken Reality

Kozilek presents a go wide strategy and card draw for your Eldrazi deck. If you have five other colorless creatures, including Scions & Spawns, their pump represents an additional 15 power. That’s no joke!
Kozilek the Broken Reality also draws you up to four cards and effectively puts ten additional power on the board for yourself. All of these abilities combined make it a deceptively powerful Eldrazi for 9 mana.
#10 Emrakul, the World Anew

At the very end, we have the baddest Eldrazi of them all! Emrakul, the World Anew is a 12/12 that can gain control of all creatures target player controls, and it has protection from all spells being cast. That’s wild and can potentially KO a player; however, twelve mana isn’t an easy feat.
If you want the greatest upside with Emrakul at its madness cost, you’ll have to put it in your decks 99, rather than the Commander slot.
That’s our list of the very best Eldrazi Commanders for the EDH format! Which Eldrazi will you be running?
