If you’re looking to change your username in MTG Arena, it can be difficult. MTG Arena currently doesn’t allow players to change their account display name; however, there are some special circumstances where it is possible.

Although players aren’t able to change their display name on their own, it is possible to change a username for a special circumstance through the support ticket system.

I personally have had success changing my name in MTG Arena through this support ticket system. Here’s what you need to do.

Step One: Sign In to MTG Arena Support

First, go to https://mtgarena-support.wizards.com and at the top right where it says My Requests or Sign In, click either button. Both will ask you to login.

After signing in, go to this link https://mtgarena-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new to submit a support request ticket.

Step Two: Create Support Ticket

Once you have navigated to the previously mentioned link to submit support ticket, you will see the screen above. From the dropdown menu, select “Account Issues”.

You will then be prompted to fill out the following information. Be sure to have your email on account and full in-game display name ready.

In my case, I titled the subject, “Account Name Issue” and provided the reason for the change. Please note that these name changes are only for special circumstances. In my case, I requested the name change because I originally named my account with the name of an MTG brand I represented. After leaving that brand, I no longer wanted my account to imply I represented that brand.

Remember to be cordial and professional. Name change requests are at the discretion of MTG Arena support staff and have to be manually done on their end. Not all requests may be approved, and name change requests based on personal taste may clog up the ticketing system.

Step Three: Provide Details Proving Your Account

If your name change request is accepted, you’ll receive a follow-up like the one I did, requesting verification of your account. You will need to provide your: First Name, Last Name, Email Address on account, Display Name, and Proof of Billing.

In my particular case, it took approximately three weeks from when the ticket was submitted until my username changed. Part of this may have been as a result of my lag time in replying to the ticket, so your own resolution time may vary.
