Ready to upgrade your Commander deck with the best artifact and colorless card draw options in Magic: The Gathering? You’ve come to the right place!
If you’re not running Dimir colors in Commander, you’re likely starting at a disadvantage when it comes to card draw. Thankfully, there are quite a few colorless artifacts that offer extremely powerful card draw. These artifacts are sure to improve your white, green, and red decks, and some are even powerful upgrades for blue and black decks as well.
For this list, we’ve selected cards that can fit into virtually any deck or, at the very least, work well in broad strategies, such as go-wide decks, creature-based decks, combo decks, and more.
With that in mind, here is our list of the Top 10 Best Colorless Card Draw to Upgrade Your Commander Deck in MTG:
#1 The One Ring
The One Ring is the best universal colorless draw card in Commander. It requires nothing special to be playable and gives a lot in return. How this card isn’t in black is beyond me. Red, white, and green decks weren’t meant to have access to this kind of card draw.
If you want to maximize The One Ring’s potential, pair it with cards that untap artifacts, such as Unwinding Clock, or draw your entire deck with Mind Over Matter.
#2 Skullclamp
Skullclamp is the best card draw option for token and go-wide Commander decks. Not only is it the best card draw, but it’s also likely the best card in your entire deck. If you’re not playing it, you’re missing out on one of the best reasons to run token strategies!
#3 Scroll Rack
Scroll Rack is a lesser-known card draw artifact originally printed in Tempest in 1997. Old-time MTG players know it well, as it was part of the deck that won the 1998 World Championship, piloted by Brian Selden.
Scroll Rack essentially lets you wheel yourself a new hand equal to the number of cards in your hand. The original cards end up back on top of your library, similar to Brainstorm. Pair this with fetch lands or cards like Land Tax that both shuffle and draw more cards to create massive value.
#4 Sensei’s Divining Top
I generally don’t play Sensei’s Divining Top because it can slow down the game, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Decks in Red or White are severely lacking in card draw, and Divining Top can make a huge difference.
The best way to play Sensei’s Divining Top is with cards that care about what’s on top of your library, such as Descendants’ Path.
#5 Memory Jar
Memory Jar is all about jumpstarting your combo and pushing towards victory. Use it to refresh your hand with a new seven cards and keep the dream alive.
#6 Mask of Memory
Mask of Memory is a sometimes underrated performer in creature-based decks. If you connect twice with it, you’ll draw 4 cards and discard 2 for just 3 colorless mana. That’s at least 1 mana cheaper than most cards with similar effects. The fact that you can spread out the mana cost over different turns makes it even more versatile.
#7 Palantír of Orthanc
Palantír of Orthanc is my go-to draw card for reanimator decks. You always get to scry 2 and then you’ll draw cards or put stuff in the bin. Plus your opponent will be paying the price to do so.
#8 Mind’s Eye
Mind’s Eye has been a Commander staple since the early days of EDH. If you have the mana, you’ll easily draw 4 or more cards per turn cycle. Pair it with cards that give you extra mana during your opponents’ turns, like Wilderness Reclamation, to really go off.
#9 Well of Lost Dreams
For all those white and black decks, and the occasional green deck, that gains life in a meaningful way, there’s Well of Lost Dreams. In the right deck, it’s not uncommon to draw 3 or more cards per turn.
The initial mana cost to get Well of Lost Dreams going is a little steep, which makes it better suited for more casual pods where you have enough turns for it to make an impact.
#10 Alhammarret’s Archive
Alhammarret’s Archive is also intended for lifegain decks, although you could run it in a deck that benefits from drawing cards on your opponent’s turns.
To get Alhammarret’s Archive truly effective, pair it with virtually any other draw cards, and you’ll be off to the races.
That’s it for our list of the top 10 colorless or artifact draw cards in MTG for Commander and EDH!
