If you’re looking for the best damn board wipes in Magic: The Gathering, you’ve come to the right place! Whether your deck’s color identity is blue, black, red, or white, we’ve got the board wipe for you!

Except for green. Sorry, your board wipes have an awful mana rate and are more like win cons (looking at you Ezuri’s Predation).

The best board wipes are ones that are either one sided, flexible, or at an extremely efficient mana cost.

It’s recommended that most commander decks run between 3 and 4 board wipes at minimum.

All that being said, here are MTG’s 10 Best Board Wipes for Commander & EDH:

#1 Cyclonic Rift

Cyclonic Rift mtg card

Audible groans usually accompany the resolution of a Cyclonic Rift. It’s the best board wipe there is, and no other card closes out as many commander games (not counting cEDH combos).

Early game you can bounce a combo card in a pinch to save the table. Late game, casting it at instant speed before your turn guarantees a hefty advantage.

Unlike other board wipes, this one leaves your cards alone, so you better follow up with some KOs as you’re now the archenemy.

#2 Farewell

Farewell mtg card

Sometimes, you just have to push the button.

No matter what your opponent has going, Farewell takes care of it. Artifact decks, creature-based decks, enchantment decks, reanimation decks. Nothing is safe.

Farewell is hated by many for just how good it is, with some even calling for a ban. There are even articles written by frustrated players on how to beat Farewell.

#3 Blasphemous Act

Blasphemous Act mtg card

Blasphemous Act is the most mana-efficient removal in the game. Often costing just one mana to cast. I can’t think of any other one-mana cards that can act as an 8 for 1, although there is one other that comes close on this list.

This is the go-to board wipe for any red deck. If you want to take it to the next level, combo it with Stuffy Doll or Brash Taunter.

#4 Toxic Deluge

Toxic Deluge mtg card

Anything under four mana is a great rate for a board wipe. Toxic Deluge goes a step further by dealing with indestructibility.

It’s also not uncommon that you can wipe your opponent’s important creatures while keeping your own by choosing the right X value.

#5 Vanquish the Horde

Vanquish the Horde mtg card

It wasn’t long ago that Vanquish the Horde was considered the best white board wipe in the game.

It’s easy to see why. Most of the time it is only two mana to destroy all creatures. No matter how mana-screwed you are, that’s not hard to accomplish.

#6 Supreme Verdict

Supreme Verdict mtg card

When you really need to push through a board wipe, Supreme Verdict gets around those pesky counterspells.

Supreme Verdict is straightforward and on rate. Nuff said.

#7 Damn

Damn mtg card

Damn is Damnation and Wrath of God, but strictly better. Either you wipe the board on rate for four mana, or you can get rid of a single creature when you really have to. It can take up both a spot removal and a board wipe slot in your deck.

#8 Final Showdown

Final Showdown mtg card
Rout just got a whole lot better. Final Showdown is the newest card on our list from Outlaws of Thunder Junction.

The modal abilities here make it incredibly useful. There aren’t a lot of instant speed board wipes, and this one lets you save your strongest creature in a tight situation.

Oh, and if your opponent is about to combo out with a creature ability, you can pay two mana to strip creatures of all abilities for a turn. Not bad.

#9 Ruinous Ultimatum

Ruinous Ultimatum mtg card fallout

Mardu has its own Cyclonic Rift with Ruinous Ultimatum. The number of mana pips is pretty absurd, so you’ll need a premium mana base to pull it off.

Once you rip one of these, expect to be the archenemy of the table.

#10 Terminus

Terminus card mtg

Terminus is a fitting end to our list of the top 10 board wipes in MTG. In Commander, there are plenty of ways to fix your library, such as Sensei’s Divining Top, Ponder, and Brainstorm.

If you’re looking for a one-mana board wipe, this and Blasphemous Act is the way to go. Plus it tucks creatures back into their owner’s library, so you’ll get around indestructibility.
