UPDATE: According to an exclusive Polygon interview with Daniel Nguyen and Aaron Forsythe of the MTG team, this is a “a full-sized set. Not a small thing”.

In addition to revealing five new MTG x Marvel Secret Lairs today, Magic: The Gathering also announced an MTG x Spider-Man crossover product.

While the exact details of the crossover have not been announced, it would presumably not be composed of just a single Secret Lair, given that five Secret Lairs were already announced together. Based on the wording and announcement, a mini-set or full set is possible.

Spider-Man x MTG Product Release Graphic

The above graphic was revealed for the Spider-Man x MTG crossover product. It reads, “Marvel’s Spider-Man slings cards from across the Spider-Verse into your favorite decks.”

The official Magic: The Gathering account on X also posted this graphic:

The learn more link merely leads to a page with the previously revealed release graphic. It does not specify if the Spider-Man x MTG product is a Secret Lair, an entire set, or a Commander deck.

Is the MTG x Spider-Man Product a Draftable Set?

So far, no concrete details have been released. It could be anything. Given that Spider-Man is such a large universe for Marvel, even a Tentpole draftable set is possible. We would rule out the possibility of a single Secret Lair for the reasons previously discussed.

Our best guess, as of the time of writing, is that it is either a smaller Assassin’s Creed-style set or an actual Tentpole set, since one was previously disclosed by MTG.

Seeing as the release graphic says, “slings cards from across the Spider-Verse into your favorite decks,” we believe it is most likely to be individual cards that can be played in your “decks”. For that reason, an Assassin’s Creed-style set product seems likely, and a fully built Commander deck seems unlikely.

The Spider-Man product will be released sometime in 2025 and is the first officially announced Marvel x MTG product other than today’s Secret Lair Drop reveal.
