Today, MTG announced the Enemy Fetch Lands Anthology for MTG Arena. The product includes all five Enemy Fetch Lands: Arid Mesa, Marsh Flats, Misty Rainforest, Scalding Tarn, and Verdant Catacombs.
The Enemy Fetch Land Anthology can be purchased on MTG Arena on May 21st for the price of 8,000 gems (approximately $40 worth if you buy the cheapest gem bundle) or 40,000 gold. Once purchased, the cards will be immediately added to your account.
In the short time since the announcement this morning, it has drawn the ire of many players, with some calling the price “absurd”. Read the community reactions below.
As voices in the MTG community stated, Anthology bundles in MTG Arena used to include playsets of 20 or so cards. For the enemy fetches you only get a playset of 5 cards, and you have to pay almost double the cost as before.
Many MTG players are excited to see these fetches finally come to the platform, but they are a must-have improvement for any deck and format that can run them.
Players have pointed out that it appears like the developers of MTG Arena believe eternal formats should carry a premium price tag in digital formats, just like they are in paper.
